Πτώση 4,5% στη ζήτηση ηλεκτρικού ρεύματος υπήρξε τον Ιανουάριο του 2014, σύμφωνα με τα στοιχεία του Διαχειριστή του Συστήματος Μεταφοράς Ηλεκτρικής Ενέργειας (ΑΔΜΗΕ). Συνολικά πάντως, η ζήτηση για ηλεκτρικό ρεύμα διαμορφώθηκε στις 4.496 GWh.

Στο επίπεδο της παραγωγής ηλεκτρισμού, η συνολική παραγωγή τον Ιανουάριο ήταν στις 4.037 GWh, έναντι 4.505 GWh τον ίδιο μήνα το 2013. Αντίστοιχα η παραγωγή από συμβατικές μονάδες υποχώρησε στις 3.406 GWh, έναντι 3.848 GWh. Επίσης, η παραγωγή από ΑΠΕ ήταν στις 631 GWh, από 657 GWh τον Ιανουάριο του 2013 (δεν περιλαμβάνονται τα φωτοβολταϊκά). Η παραγωγή από τις λιγνιτικές μονάδες σημείωσε ελάχιστη αύξηση από 2.280 GWh σε 2.230 GWh. Την ίδια στιγμή η παραγωγή από φυσικό αέριο μειώθηκε στις 856 GWh έναντι 1.039 GWh, το ίδιο και η υδροηλεκτρική παραγωγή διαμορφώθηκε στις 270 GWh, έναντι 580 GWh τον περασμένο Ιανουάριο.
