Θυροκολλήθηκε στη Βουλή, λίγο μετά τις 9:00, το Προεδρικό Διάταγμα για τη διάλυση του Κοινοβουλίου και την προκήρυξη των εθνικών εκλογών. Το διάταγμα ορίζει ότι η νέα Βουλή που θα προκύψει από τις τις εκλογές της 25ης Ιανουαρίου, θα συνέλθει σε πρώτη συνεδρίαση την Πέμπτη 5 Φεβρουαρίου στις 11:00 το πρωί.
Ολοκληρώθηκε, στο Μέγαρο Μαξίμου, παρουσία του Προέδρου της Δημοκρατίας, Κ. Παπούλια, και του πρωθυπουργού, Αντ. Σαμαρά, η ορκωμοσία του υπηρεσιακού υπουργού Εσωτερικών, Μ. Θεοχαρίδη, τ.προέδρου του Αρείου Πάγου.
