Τους νεκρούς μαχητές της  Ταξιαρχίας Ιππικού του ΔΣΕ, τίμησαν σε εκδήλωση το παράρτημα της ΠΕΑΕΑ-ΔΣΕ Καρδίτσας στην Ιτέα.
Πρόκειται για τους ηρωικούς ιππείς του θρυλικού  ιππικού του Γαζή, που μετά την αιματηρή μάχη στο Τομπρούζι (βουνό κοντά στην πόλη του Παλαμά), τον Μάρτη του 1949, κυκλώθηκαν από υπέρτερες δυνάμεις του στρατού και στην προσπάθεια τους να σπάσουν τον κλοιό σκοτώθηκαν και θάφτηκαν σε ομαδικό τάφο έξω από το νεκροταφείο της Ιτέας Καρδίτσας

.
Στο σημείο αναρτήθηκε τιμητική πλάκα με τα ονόματα των νεκρών αγωνιστών.
Στην σεμνή εκδήλωση όπου ακούστηκε και η μαρτυρία επιζώσας μαχήτριας, μίλησε από μέρους του παραρτήματος της ΠΕΑΕΑΔΣΕ  Καρδίτσας ο Βασίλης Φυτσιλής και χαιρέτησε από μέρους του ΚΚΕ ο Γιάννης Τσούτρας  μέλος του γραφείου περιοχής Θεσσαλίας, ενώ κατατέθηκαν στεφάνια από τη ΝΕ Καρδίτσας, το παράρτημα της ΠΕΑΕΑ-ΔΣΕ και λουλούδια από συγγενείς και συναγωνιστές των νεκρών μαχητών.
