«Θα σταθούμε στο πλευρό της Ουκρανίας» στις προσπάθειές της να διατηρήσει την εδαφική της ακεραιότητα και κυριαρχία δήλωσε απόψε ο Αμερικανός πρόεδρος Μπαράκ Ομπάμα μετά τη συνάντηση με τον πρωθυπουργό της Ουκρανίας Αρσένι Γιατσενιούκ στον Λευκό Οίκο.

Επιπλέον, ο Ομπάμα υπογράμμισε ότι το μήνυμα προς τη Ρωσία είναι το εξής: Η Δύση θα αναγκαστεί να επιβάλλει κυρώσεις στη Μόσχα εάν δεν αλλάξει πορεία, ενώ έσπευσε να τονίσει ότι η ρωσική στρατιωτική επέμβαση στην Κριμαία παραβιάζει το διεθνές δίκαιο.

Ο Αρσένι Γιατσενιούκ από την πλευρά του είπε ότι «δεν θα παραδοθούμε ποτέ» στη Ρωσία και εξέφρασε την ετοιμότητα του Κιέβου για συνομιλίες με τη Μόσχα.
