Μέ ἀφορμή τή δημοσίευση στόν ἠλεκτρονικό τύπο φωτογραφιῶν, οἱ ὁποῖες συνοδεύουν κείμενο γιά τήν κυκλοφορία ὑποδημάτων, ἐπί τοῦ πέλματος τῶν ὁποίων σέ ἐμφανές σημεῖο ὑπάρχει τό σχῆμα τοῦ Τιμίου Σταυροῦ, ἡ Ἱερά Σύνοδος τῆς Ἐκκλησίας τῆς Ἑλλάδος θεωρεῖ ὅτι ἡ τοιαύτη χρήση τοῦ σχήματος τοῦ Τιμίου Σταυροῦ συνιστᾶ βεβήλωση, ἐξύβριση, ἀσέβεια καί προσβολή τοῦ Λυτρωτικοῦ Συμβόλου τῆς Ὀρθοδόξου Πίστεώς μας. Γιά τόν λόγο αὐτόν ἐκφράζει τήν δυσφορία, τήν ἀντίθεση καί τόν ἀποτροπιασμό Της γιά τήν βέβηλη αὐτή ἐνέργεια, ἐν ὄψει μάλιστα τῆς Ἁγίας καί Μεγάλης Ἑβδομάδος καί ζητεῖ τήν ἀπόσυρση τοῦ συγκεκριμένου τύπου ὑποδημάτων ἀπό τήν ἀγορά.
