Τουλάχιστον πέντε άτομα τραυματίστηκαν όταν η τουρκική αστυνομία έκανε χρήση δακρυγόνων και αντλιών νερού προκειμένου να διαλύσει πλήθος χιλιάδων ανθρώπων που διαδήλωσαν στην πόλη Σόμα για τους θανάτους σχεδόν 300 ανθρακωρύχων, στη μεγαλύτερη τραγωδία που έχει σημειωθεί σε ορυχείο της Τουρκίας. Στο μεταξύ, η διαχειρίστρια εταιρεία του ορυχείου επισήμανε ότι από πλευράς της δεν υπήρξε αμέλεια και ότι ακόμη δεν γνωρίζει την ακριβή αιτία του δυστυχήματος.
