Η φωτιά ξεκίνησε λίγο πριν τη μια το μεσημέρι, στο 4ο χλμ Καρδίτσας-Σμοκόβου (ύψος Κέντρου Ρέμβη σε παρακείμενη χορτολιβαδικική έκταση).
Η φωτιά ξέφυγε και έφτασε το προαύλιο χώρο επιχείρησης με ανακυκλώσιμα υλικά(μέταλλά scrap) επεκτάθηκε σε δέκα αυτοκίνητα που ήταν σταθμευμένα στη μάντρα της επιχείρησης, προοριζόταν για ανακύκλωση, και τα έκαψε ολοσχερώς. Χάρη στην άμεση της πυροσβεστικής υπηρεσίας Καρδίτσας, η οποία έσπευσε με οχήματα, η πυρκαγιά τέθηκε υπό έλεγχο σε μια ώρα ενώ κλιμάκιο της υπηρεσίας διενεργεί έρευνα
