Εκατομμύρια μισθωτοί και συνταξιούχοι που λαμβάνουν πάνω από 833 ευρώ το μήνα, θα δουν, από τον Ιανουάριο του 2015, τις κρατήσεις φόρου εισοδήματος να μειώνονται κατά 8 έως και 85 ευρώ  το μήνα, λόγω των μειώσεων των συντελεστών φορολογίας εισοδήματος κατά 2 ποσοστιαίες μονάδες και της αύξησης του αφορολογήτου ορίου από τα 9.550 στα 11.500 ευρώ, που προβλέπονται στο πακέτο φοροελαφρύνσεων το οποίο σχεδιάζει να εντάξει η κυβέρνηση στον κρατικό προϋπολογισμό του επόμενου έτους.

Ειδικά δε όσοι μισθωτοί και συνταξιούχοι λαμβάνουν κάθε μήνα πάνω από 1.000 ευρώ (πάνω από 12.000 ευρώ, ετησίως) θα έχουν ακόμη μεγαλύτερα οφέλη, καθώς από τον Ιανουάριο θα μειωθούν και οι κρατήσεις της ειδικής εισφοράς αλληλεγγύης που επιβάλλονται επί των αποδοχών τους.
