Ο 42χρονος οδηγός του οχήματος με  κατεύθυνση Αθήνα προς Καρδίτσα εισήρθε στο αντίθετο ρεύμα και συγκρούστηκε στο 3oχλμ Καρδίτσας-Αθηνών με διερχόμενο ΙΧ.
Ο 42χρονος Καρδιτσιώτης έχασε την ζωή του ενώ οι επιβάτες του δευτέρου οχήματος νοσηλεύονται τραυματισμένοι στο Νοσοκομείο Καρδίτσας και δεν διατρέχουν κίνδυνο.
