Σεισμική δόνηση μεγέθους 4,1 βαθμών της κλίμακας Ρίχτερ σημειώθηκε στις 12.40 τα ξημερώματα του Σαββάτου κοντά στο Βελεστίνο, σύμφωνα με επίσημη ανακοίνωση του Γεωδυναμικού Ινστιτούτου του Εθνικού Αστεροσκοπείου Αθηνών.

Το επίκεντρο της δόνησης εντοπίζεται 33 χιλιόμετρα νότια-νοτιοανατολικά της Λάρισας και 179 χλμ βόρεια-βορειοδυτικά της Αθήνας. Ο σεισμός χαρακτηρίζεται επιφανειακός και το εστιακό του βάθος υπολογίζεται στο ένα χιλιόμετρο.
