Tον κώδωνα του κινδύνου κρούουν οικονομολόγοι για την ακρίβεια, με το φαινόμενο «Ελ Νίνιο» και τις ακραίες καιρικές συνθήκες που το συνοδεύουν να θεωρούνται σημαντικότερος παράγοντας για τον πληθωρισμό τροφίμων το 2027 σε σχέση με τον πόλεμο στο Ιράν. Σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο, μάλιστα, αναλυτές προειδοποιούν ότι η πλήρης επίπτωση στις παγκόσμιες τιμές αγροτικών εμπορευμάτων μπορεί να χρειαστεί ακόμα και έως το 2028 για να αποτυπωθεί.

Επίσης, οικονομολόγοι της Oxford Economics και της Deutsche Bank προειδοποιούν ότι η ανακούφιση από την επιβράδυνση που δείχνει η προκαταρκτική εκτίμηση της Eurostat – από 2,5% σε ετήσια βάση τον Δεκέμβριο του 2025 σε 1,6% τον Ιούνιο του 2026 – μπορεί να είναι προσωρινή, με αποτέλεσμα ο πληθωρισμός των τιμών των τροφίμων να επιταχυνθεί εκ νέου.
