Η Άννα Κορακάκη χάρισε το πρώτο χρυσό μετάλλιο στην Ελλάδα στουςΟλυμπιακούς Αγώνες του Ρίο.

Η χάλκινη Ολυμπιονίκης στα 10μ. με αεροβόλο πιστόλι επικράτησε στον τελικό των 25μ. της Γερμανίδας, Μόνικα Καρς και έτσι κατάφερε να ανέβει στο υψηλότερο σκαλί του βάθρου με τον ελληνικό ύμνο να ακούγεται για πρώτη φορά στη Βραζιλία.

Η Δραμινή αθλήτρια του Ωρίωνα Θεσσαλονίκης επικράτησε στον τελικό με 8-6 της Γερμανίδας, Μόνικα Καρς.

Να σημειώσουμε πως η Κορακάκη έγραψε ιστορία. Έγινε η 4η αθλήτρια ή αθλητής που καταφέρνει στην ίδια διοργάνωση να πάρει δυο μετάλλια.

Αντίστοιχο επίτευγμα είχαν κατορθώσει ο Κώστας Τσικλητήρας στον στίβο το 1908 και το 1912 καθώς και οι Γιάννης Φραγκούδης και Γιώργος Ορφανίδης το 1896 στην σκοποβολή.
