Για την Μαδρίτη αναχωρεί ο διαχρονικός αθλητής του άλματος εις ύψος Αθανάσιος Καμπίτσας προκειμένου να συμμετάσχει στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πρωτάθλημα κλειστού στίβου. Οι αγώνες πραγματοποιούνται στο στάδιο Gallur Municipal Sports Centre, στις 19 – 24 Μαρτίου.

Ο αθλητής του ΣΕΒΑΣ Καρδίτσας θα αγωνιστεί με άλλους 15 άλτες από όλη την Ευρώπη στην κατηγορία Μ40 (άνδρες ηλικίας 40 – 44 ετών). Ο Αθ. Καμπίτσας είναι αρκετές φορές πανελληνιονίκης, έχει πάρει χρυσά και ασημένια μετάλλια στους βαλκανικούς αγώνες και έχει κατακτήσει την 4η θέση στους πανευρωπαϊκούς αγώνες κλειστού στίβου το 2015 (Τορούν, Πολωνία).
