Οι ΗΠΑ κατηγορούν την ΕΕ ότι αποκλίνει από την υπόσχεσή της να άρει όλους τους δασμούς που επιβάλλονται στο διατλαντικό εμπόριο προϊόντων, αναφέρει δημοσίευμα της εφημερίδας Financial Times. Η ΕΕ και οι ΗΠΑ ανακοίνωσαν πέρυσι την πρωτοβουλία μίας διατλαντικής εμπορικής και επενδυτικής εταιρικής σχέσης, που θα αποτελούσε τη μεγαλύτερη περιφερειακή εμπορική συμφωνία, καθώς θα αφορούσε οικονομίες που αποτελούν σχεδόν το 50% της παγκόσμιας οικονομίας. Και οι δύο πλευρές είχαν υποσχεθεί να άρουν όλους τους δασμούς στο διατλαντικό εμπόριο.
Στις συζητήσεις που έγιναν αυτή την εβδομάδα στις Βρυξέλλες, αξιωματούχοι της ΕΕ δήλωσαν στους Αμερικανούς ομολόγους τους ότι σχεδιάζουν να επιτρέψουν τις εισαγωγές μοσχαρίσιου κρέατος, χοιρινού κρέατος και κοτόπουλων από τις ΗΠΑ με βάση ένα σύστημα ποσοστώσεων. Η κίνηση αυτή ενόχλησε τους Αμερικανούς διαπραγματευτές, που αντιμετωπίζουν ισχυρά αγροτικά λόμπι στη χώρα τους και το Κογκρέσο που εμφανίζεται όλο και πιο επιφυλακτικό όσον αφορά την αξία των εμπορικών συμφωνιών.
